Which brings us to anti-theft tips. First and foremost, take your keys with you whenever you leave the vehicle. Rolling up the windows, locking all doors and parking in well-lit areas are great deterrents as well. Obvious, yes, but according to the NICB, these simple steps could have prevented many vehicle thefts from happening in the first place.
If you want to decrease the odds of having your vehicle stolen, the NCIB recommends additional layers of protection, starting with a visible or audible device that alerts thieves that your car/truck is protected. You might also want to include immobilizing devices, such as smart keys, fuse cut-offs and kill switches along with tracking devices that emit a signal to police or a monitoring station when the vehicle is stolen.
You’ll also want an insurance company that you can trust should your vehicle go missing. Use BBB eQuote to find insurance agents in your neighborhood and to get fast, free, no-obligation quotes (or simply more information) from BBB Accredited Businesses.
