Finding Reliable Care for Twilight Years

My 90-year-old father has had a very full life, playing golf till just last year. But age has finally caught up to him and it has come time for him to say goodbye to the house he has lived in for 50 years.

Living in a small town, as he does, makes life-changing choices somewhat easier than if he were in a city of any size. Which assisted living facility? He had only one to choose from, and fortunately for him – and us – it’s top quality.

But it got me to thinking about the many choices one has in larger communities. It’s a laborious process to visit all senior living centers to see what is offered, to interview staff, to see if it’s the right fit. How do you being to winnow the list of living options?

Thank goodness for the Better Business Bureau. While you know to check out a plumber or auto dealer with the BBB, you might not think of turning to us to find senior living centers.

But you should. After all, where your mom or dad moves in their twilight years is as important as who fixes your car, right?

BBB is a great tool for researching your options ! Whether you chose a facility and re-locate your senior, or if have the option of keeping your senior in his or her own home with some in-home companion help and maybe a visiting nurse to check on things as needed, the BBB offers that stamp of approval to help you have piece of mind about this major decision. Don't forget to ask for referrals from current clients too !
