When Customer Service is Absent

A friend recently posted on Facebook that she would no longer shop at a local grocery store after routinely being snubbed by cashiers. No greetings, no apology when an item was rung up incorrectly, not even a thank you for shopping that day.

Fed up, my friend is taking her business elsewhere.

I suggested she tell the manager why she won’t be returning. “Would he really care?” she asked.

If he’s at all concerned about his store’s bottom line, he should definitely care. Today’s marketplace is all about relationships. And good customer service – being greeted, being helped, making things right – is part of that equation.

How do you handle poor customer service?

My wife shopping at a local chain superstore yesterday encoutered she believed the common experience of the 4-5 customers lined up with frozen foods, defrosting. The store never seems to have any management in the area. My wife as she approached the end of the open registers found an empty register, "yes, I'm OPEN" said the cashier. My wife asked why she didn't ask a customer over? she replied with a smile she was quite happy as she was, her job was to operate the cash register. No wonder these stores are packed, the employesss errors, time on a customer packing bags. OH WELL!!!
