Who doesn’t want to earn hundreds, if not thousands, stuffing envelopes at home? Or assembling widgets?

While there are many legitimate home-based employment opportunities, there is an over abundance of work-at-home scams hoping to cash in as well.

Medical billing, envelope stuffing, assembly or craft work and “business opportunities” are among the more prevalent home-based work scams.
How can you tell the difference between a legitimate opportunity and a work-at home-scam? Your BBB advises that a work-at-home scammer will:
  • Never offer you regular salaried employment
  • Promise you huge profits and big part-time earnings
  • Use personal testimonials but never identify the person so you can check with the directly.
  • Require money for instructions or or merchandise before telling you how the plan operates.
  • Assure you of guaranteed markets and a huge demand for your handiwork.
  • Tell you that no experience is necessary.
  • Take your money and give you very little or nothing in return.
